Thousands of trials take place every day across the country. A small percentage of these trials are reported in journals or magazines. An even smaller percentage, probably less than 1% are reported in newspapers or on television. The following are a few notable jury trials in which Attorney Low represented the prevailing party. ALAN R. BURCH V. SPRINGFIELD AUTO SALES-EAST,INC.,The Verdict Reporter volume 4 November 7 (1992)This civil trial in Superior Court resulted in a jury verdict for the Plaintiff in the amount of $200,000.00 plus interest. The Plaintiff, a building contractor, sustained a partial tear of his right rotator cuff when a wheel detached from the defendant’s truck struck the plaintiff’s truck head- on. Attorney Low made use of a videotape presentation of the surgery along with the testimony of the surgeon to prove “damages” in the case. SMITH V. MORIARTY, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, December 25, 1995$45,325.00 verdict plus interest awarded Attorney Low’s client by Judge Francis X. Spina, currently justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, after jury trial. Hired by a local attorney to defend him in a civil suit, Attorney Low defended the case through GL 108A, §36(2). After winning the jury claim a verdict by the trial judge was entered in the nature of a partnership accounting. JOHNSON et al V. TEAMSTERS LOCAL UNION 559 et al, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, March 25, 1996$874,000.00 verdict with interest won in a federal jury trial. Johnson, a former Teamster, alleged Race Discrimination under the Civil Rights Act: Title VII and emotional distress after union members waged a campaign to threaten his life. Events grew out of investigations and terminations of members accused of theft in a meat processing plant in Enfield, Connecticut. MEMORANDUM OF DECISION: SUPERIOR COURT: RODRIGUES V. SHEEHY AND MASKELLAttorney Low was asked by a retired first justice of the Springfield District Courts to defend him in a civil case involving a shooting and injury by gunshot.
